Council has been promising to fix and improve the metal steps into the water at Bower Lane for a very long time.
After a number of temporary fixes a set of steps was installed further along the top of the stormwater pipe onto the rocks. This might be ok at low tide, when you can see where you are going, but dangerous any other time. There is a treacherous 10 metres to traverse to get to the sandy bottom to enter the water. As the tide comes in the rocks become slippery and awash with varying sized waves.
Accidents have likely already occurred here with many people entering and exiting the Cabbage Tree Bay from this location every week. Slippery rocks at low tide or invisible rocks at high tide these steps are unsafe in the current location.
